The North American elk is the symbol of nobility among wildlife and this beautiful bronze elk sculpture is a perfect example of that regal appointment.
Scott created "Sir Royal" to embody what he sees as their kingship in the rugged backcountry of the Rocky Mountains.
After 32 years in Montana I still get excited when I see an elk in the wild. They are an elusive creature and while abundant throughout Montana, they aren't just standing there waiting for someone to see them. As a matter of fact, we hear them crashing through the woods (running away) more than we ever see them.
An elk is the 2nd largest animal in our area. Moose claim the 1st place spot for size. But in the fall when the bulls are running around, strutting their stuff with their big antlers I'd swear they were the largest thing out there.
Another cool thing about elk is their hair. It is a beautiful mixture of tans and browns and they have a distinctively light colored rump patch. Scott has done several elk scultpures and while I recommend any of them I would like to say that Sir Royal is a great sized sculpture if you are limited at all on room.
